Pediatric Infectious Disease Physician by training has focused his career on the use of implementation science to improve the quality and effectiveness of health services. He developed the Nevada Care Program the only comprehensive maternal-child HIV program that has been instrumental in the reduction of mother-to-child HIV transmission in Southern Nevada. His research has led to the design, implementation and testing of innovative interventions and approaches targeted at reducing health disparities and improve maternal-child health outcomes. He has been the principal investigator on multiple NIH funded studies including the Healthy Beginning Initiatives (HBI), a congregation-based framework that leverages the widely distributed faith-based institutions in many resource-source-limited settings.
